Originally, Squier was the only manufacturer of inexpensive alternatives to Fender models with the original look. They had and have a very good reputation and even professionals weren't ashamed to be seen with a Squier. Since Fender also started offering less expensive models (made in Mexico), Squier has begun selling the truly cheap Fender models. These are real, viable beginners' guitars - nothing more, but definitely nothing less!
The Affinity Tele, with its solid alder body, maple neck and fretboard and two Tele-style pickups (the bridge model has enough output for crisp lead lines and riffs), sounds much like the original: what more could an aspiring country rocker (one can, of course, play all other styles with a Tele) want?
